I was appointed professor and senior consultant in orthopedics at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital in 2006: I and am the director of the Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Training (CAMST) at Karolinska University Hospital. I am active in education and research as well as development of advanced technology and simulation. The vision is to create a new de-facto standard for training of technical and non-technical skills (team behavior) with advanced medical simulators, following ergonomic principles and thus optimizing conditions for enhanced patient safety. By training instructors and teachers, the next generation of healthcare professionals will gain better abilities and attitudes enabling patient safety. I have supervised 15 PhD students graduating at Karolinska Institutet. In 2001, I was awarded Karolinska Institute’s pedagogical prize. In 2017 I was appointed honorary member of the Swedish Orthopedic Association and in 2023 honorary member of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT).
